After 2 months of intense preparation and evaluation, Cassetex, a solar powered battery swapping service from Advanced Dynamics team has been awarded the top startup idea award at the Climatelaunchpad 2020 this year. Our team, despite being held back due to COVID-19, decided to put our thinking caps on and submit this idea.
The Climatelaunchpad green business competition is organized every year, and this is the first time Bangladesh participated. In the beginning, we had a Bangladesh National Final, organized by Gen Lab. From there, we emerged as the National Winner, after being judged by local and international experts. From there onwards, we participated in the Regional Finals alongside teams from India, Nepal, Maldives etc. The competition was very tough at that stage, but also educational and rewarding at the same time. Regional judges decided to give us high scores and we moved on to the Global Semi-final, this time competing against countries from more than 50 other countries. In the Sustainable Mobility category, we pitched our idea to global judges and experts from different parts of the world. Out of 8 teams, only 2 were selected to participate in the Global Grand Finale.
On October 2, 2020, at Global Grand Finale, after more than 4 hours of competitive pitching between teams, our project Cassetex emerged as the overall winner and Global Champion of the event this year. This is the first time any team from Bangladesh reached this stage, let alone capture the top prize. The entire experience was an eye-opener for our team, and we look forward to expanding this project to its desired goals.
